Academy of the Arts – Honours Program

Schools at Queensland Conservatorium

Over fifty students have represented Citipointe at the State Honours Ensemble Program throughout 2023. Griffith University runs a top musical program featuring the best school students in South Queensland. Those selected display a high level of musical talent, experience, and potential.

The programs took place at the Brisbane Conservatorium at South Bank. Students rehearsed over a weekend and learned valuable new skills to bring back to their school ensembles and programs. Citipointe students actively participated in and contributed to the engaging and entertaining finale concerts. At school, students received certificates acknowledging their participation. Well done to all of those involved.

Australian Honours Ensemble Program

This prestigious program is an extension of the State of Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) run by the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Congratulations to Santo, Year 11, who has been accepted into the program as a vocalist. Santo delighted audiences when he played the lead role of Prince Eric in the College Musical. The Little Mermaid. Congratulations to Kallum, Year 12, who has been accepted into the program to play saxophone. Kallum is involved in performance groups and receives music tuition at Citipointe.

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

The Queensland Conservatorium invited Elliot, Year 11, to perform at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Elliot was chosen along with eight young musicians from the Conservatorium. They engaged in a week of intensive workshops with the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland.

Elliot is part of a prestigious program at the Conservatorium to develop his outstanding skills as an oboist. Elliot’s creative potential has been nurtured at Citipointe through music tuition with our talented and experienced tutors. His skills as a musician and a performer have been developed through our award-winning music ensembles in the Academy of the Arts.
