Year 3

Year 3 at 91²Ö¿â is full of new experiences and opportunities for students personal and academic growth. In Year 3, teachers facilitate learning activities that support students at this midway point of their primary educational journey.

Year 3 kicks the year off with a bang, delving into Solids and Liquids in our first Science unit. Students enjoy a range of hands on experiments, as they learn how matter changes. Students learn more about our multicultural country in our History unit titled I am, you are, we are Australian. They enjoy learning about different cultural celebrations and commemorations. A highlight of our History unit is the ANZAC Day incursion. Students participate in engaging, hands-on learning experiences to learn about this important day. In Christian Studies we look in depth at a range of Christian character traits. Our goal is not only to teach these Christian character traits, but to see our students apply them in their daily lives.

In Semester 2 we begin our Geography unit, Australia and its neighbours! Students learn how to identify natural and human characteristics of places. They also develop their ability to compare and contrast, as they study Australia and our neighbouring countries. Our eyes turn heavenward in Unit 4, as we peer into space to discover the wonders of God’s universe in our Day and Night unit. We take a virtual journey into space at the Brisbane Planetarium which provides more breath-taking experiences. To finish the year in Christian Studies, we use the Bible to learn about what it means to be a hero.
